Grand Manan Weirs

Fishermen in the Atlantic provinces use "weirs" as a method of catching fish. Nets are strung on a framework of poles forming an enclosed area into which fish are trapped. Weirs are seen all around Grand Manan.

At high tide, only the tops of the poles are visible. The rock in the foreground is the top of the "Hole-in-the-Wall".
